Full course description
President Kaler launched the President's Initiative to Prevent Sexual Misconduct in response to the sexual misconduct crisis we see in our nation and on our University of Minnesota campuses. The first phase of the Initiative calls for required training for everyone on all our campuses across the University system.
The President has asked that the Board of Regents, University Senior Leaders, and Deans take this training as part of an Early Compliance Group, and I have asked that our Finance and Operations teams participate as well. In addition, the Office of Institutional Compliance and the Office of the General Counsel have volunteered to participate as well. By being the first to take the training, we will help set the tone for the University and begin to create a community that shares common knowledge and that knows how to take common action.
Please be on the lookout in the next several days for an email from training@umn.edu. The training will take approximately 45 minutes of your time, and you do not need to complete it in one sitting. However, you must complete it by February 16.
A goal of this training is to begin to provide each of us—and all faculty and staff—with the tools needed to respond seriously and compassionately when we learn that one of us has experienced sexual misconduct. It also explains every employee's obligation to report possible sexual misconduct to the campus Title IX office, as required by recently approvedBoard of Regents and administrative policies.
The long-term goals of the Initiative are to create a University environment that's healthy and safe for all, and an understanding that preventing sexual misconduct—assault, harassment, and stalking—is everyone's shared responsibility.
Thank you for taking the training. It is vitally important to the health, safety, and wellbeing of our University of Minnesota community.
Sincerely,
Brian Burnett
Senior Vice President
